About our Members

Professional Standards of Membership

All of our members have appropriate professional qualifications that are either directly accredited in their own right (e.g. NVQ's and Degrees), or are from QCA / SQA approved Awarding bodies.

We do not accept members who only have independently accredited awards.

All our members are contracted by their membership terms and conditions to adhere to the appropriate National Occupational Standards (NOS) for therapies offered. The NOS are the officially set professional standards in the UK.

Our members all have to submit yearly evidence of professional insurance to an appropriate level, and adhere to a code of professional conduct and ethics.

For members of the public, and health professionals alike, these standards mean in practice that:

  • Our Members are appropriately qualified to nationally recognised standards. These standards are set via approved awarding bodies and directly accredited awards. We do not set these standards, they are set nationally by the National Qualification Framework, and Qualification Curriculum Authority (SQA in Scotland).

  • Our members are committed to adhere to the NOS National Occupational Standards for the therapies they offer. Where multiple therapies are offered, they must adhere to at least one major set of approved NOS, and adhere to the additional individual clauses and criteria applicable to additional therapies. Again the NOS are set Nationally, and are an approved set of standards.

  • Our members are insured and registered, adhering to codes of conduct and ethics.
